liggerswithattitude was formed as a defined
entity in the summer of 2002 after a particularly
barmy set in the backstage hospitality area
of the Reading Festival, but it’s roots
descend way back to 1988, with the coming together
of the house, funk, indie, rock and goth scenes.
Inspired by the open and eclectic music policies
of the raves and squat parties of the
time, the liggers Djs made it their mission
to deliver entertaining, musically diverse,
floor-filling sets wherever and whenever
possible.
Starting with humble house parties they
built enough of a following to warrant
the organisation of small underground
events in the woodlands and parks of Surrey.
These had to be stopped in 1991 when 8000
people turned up to an event planned for
1000, and the inevitable move into clubland
followed.
